Ever heard about augmented reality glasses? Remember the beginning of the film Mission Impossible 2? Or older films like Iron Man or Ghostbusters?

One common factor in all these films was the presence of original, multi-purpose glasses. Fantastical glasses that helped the good guys complete their mission. Well, nowadays you don’t have to be a James Bond to have super-glasses… we just have to wait for the release of “Google Glass”, the invention they say will knock Apple off the leader-board of electronic device inventors.

These glasses incorporate a camera that includes video, a microphone, GPS, and a Wi-Fi connection, and can be controlled using both the voice and a series of little buttons on the sidebars.

With their digital mini-screen, they can be used to experience augmented reality and, without interfering with our vision, can offer images and information about objects or buildings that we are looking at. Like smartphones, they can incorporate an infinite number of apps, making them even more appealing. You can find out a bit more about them in this video.

I think we’ll have to wait a bit longer before we can buy them as it seems they won’t be launched until 2014 and will cost around 1000 euros. What do you think? I can’t wait to try them!
