Today I had the pleasure of speaking to Maca, an advertising agent by trade but, since the very beginning of her career, she says, has always wanted to be a florist! Now she is a designer and creator of floral headbands.

She told me that she used to tell herself this over and over again, like a mantra, and, without really knowing how it happened, flowers suddenly became part of her life. The apparition came in the form of headbands. In July, 2012, she made her first headband and founded Hip&Love, and since then the orders haven’t stopped rolling in.

Bohemian style is back in fashion. We see floral headpieces all over the television and magazines and weddings, parties and all kinds of events are brimming with flowers. Maca loves to follow this trend, in fact she gets so swept up in it she proposes a headband for every occasion. What’s more, she leads by example!

The truth is, though, that the people who wear them most are the brides, and Maca adores working with them. She says they irradiate positive energy and are delightfully crazy girls who really let loose when they put a crown on their head.

The creative process is quite laborious and 100% hand-crafted, meaning that Maca keeps nothing in stock and has to move heaven and earth to find exactly the piece that transmits the idea she has been asked to portray. It’s well worth all the trouble, however. Who doesn’t like something handmade especially for them?

Maca works with paper and fabric flowers, so her creations can be safeguarded and treasured and passed on to our grandchildren.

Put the finishing touches by joining her on Facebook or by mailing her at hipandlove@gmail.com
