Ever since she was a child, Paloma Picasso has been a transgressor, perhaps due to the need to break out of the long shadow of her father, the great Pablo Ruiz Picasso. But today I’m going to tell you something I didn’t know, she also made vintage glasses!
Although from the late 70s she became well-known for her jewellery designs for the famous company Tiffany & Co. and its perfumes, which gained great fame and prestige a decade later.
Well, as you know, what I like most about this designer are her vintage eyewear, where her designs have always stood out and where she has managed not to leave anyone indifferent.
The emergence of Paloma in the world of eyewear was accompanied by the use of new materials in the manufacture of frames, including Optyl, patented in 1964.
In her designs the first thing that stood out was their lightness, despite using metal applications as accessories. Their butterfly frames, polygonal shapes, colour combinations and overly decorated arms and fronts also distinguished her artwork.
Apart from this, their female proportions made them a true object of desire for the female public.
Now I’ll leave you with some Paloma Picasso photos and her eyewear! Hope you like them,
Nico
